RECYC-QUÉBEC activities to be blended into the MDDEP and its financial operations transferred to the Fonds vert

Bill 130, tabled by the President of the Conseil du trésor on November 11, 2010, proposes the abolition of RECYC-QUÉBEC and the blending of its activities and resources into the Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et des Parcs (MDDEP) as of April 1, 2011. The organization’s accumulated surplus of approximately $40 million and financial operations are to be transferred to the Fonds vert.

According to Minister Pierre Arcand, this decision will result in annual recurring savings of $2 million and create a single government window for residual materials management.

ÉEQ will ensure that ongoing projects and studies managed in partnership with RECYC-QUÉBEC continue to be pursued and that any requisite transitional measures be adopted in order to protect the best interest of its member companies and organizations.
