October 5 - 7, 2009 Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel, Montreal, QC
The third Conference on Canadian Stewardship will be held in Montréal from October 5 to 7, 2009, under the theme of "Sustainable stewardship". Speakers and delegates will discuss and examine the current state of stewardship programs and how they can become sustainable in all economic circumstances. Representatives from over 30 Canadian stewardship organizations, all levels of government as well as retailers and consumer goods manufacturers will be attending.
As a proud partner in the 2009 conference, Éco Entreprises Québec will actively participate in various activities that are at the heart of its mission to represent companies in their responsibility to finance their share of the net costs of efficient and effective municipal curbside recycling. Maryse Vermette, ÉEQ President and General Manager, will host the segment on Future of Sustainable EPR in Canada – Panel Discussion. Also, the event is sponsored by RECYC-QUÉBEC.
Taking place every other year, Conferences on Canadian Stewardship, which were held in Toronto in 2005 and Vancouver in 2007, provide an opportunity to examine the governance of stewardship programs, how to measure program performance, and how programs can successfully evolve to create more effective solutions. Stewardship programs have progressed considerably over the past few years and these Canada-wide conferences are a forum to deal with major concerns expressed by consumer goods manufacturers such as program cost and the respect of obligations imposed by stewardship laws.
