Consultation Meetings on the Schedule of Contributions | update 2010-06-30

Article 53.31.14 of the Environment Quality Act (EQA), adopted on December 12, 2002, establishes a compensation plan requiring targeted companies and organizations to pay municipalities up to 50% of the net costs of curbside recycling programs. Targeted companies and organizations are presented here.

In accordance with Article 53.31.14 of the EQA, ÉEQ holds special consultations on rules governing each schedule of contributions. During consultation meetings on the Schedule of Contributions, companies and organizations are invited to comment on the decisions and orientations taken for the development of the contribution grid and rules governing the schedule of contributions. Consequently, a report on consultation must accompany the Schedule of Contributions when government approval is requested. Consult appropriate tags for more info.

A meeting is always held in Ontario in order to reach the primary contacts of large companies who generate materials intended for Quebec consumers.

Since the meetings were held before the agreement on net costs was signed, they essentially provided companies with information on the compensation plan and gave them an opportunity to comment on the 2007 and 2008 Schedule of Contributions. The draft 2007 and 2008 contribution grids submitted to companies at that time were expected to cover both obligation years, i.e. 2007 and 2008.

The 2007 fee grid as well as the latest adjustments to the Schedule of Contributions, as adopted by the Board of Directors on December 12, 2009, were presented at an audio broadcast held on December 17, 2008. See the related documents below.
