Best Practices in Curbside Recycling in municipalities  update 08-09-2009

Technical Day on Best Practices in Curbside Recycling November 26, 2008

In cooperation with the Association des organismes municipaux de gestion des matières résiduelles (AOMGMR), ÉEQ held a Technical Day on Best Practices in Curbside Recycling on November 26, 2008, for municipal representatives, elected officials and managers involved in curbside recycling issues.

Organized by RÉSEAU Environnement as part of the Colloque sur la gestion des matières résiduelles, Technical Day was a unique opportunity for Quebec municipalities to share information, analyses and methods used in highly efficient and effective curbside recycling operations.

During 2007, RECYC-QUÉBEC conducted a 2005/2006 Curbside Recycling Cost and Revenue Study that included a questionnaire on services offered by Quebec municipal organizations managing curbside recycling programs. Among other things, the study helped to identify municipal organizations in various regions of Quebec that run efficient and effective curbside recycling programs.

Given the importance of sharing this information, ÉEQ decided to organize an event for municipal representatives and provide a forum for discussions on best practices in curbside recycling in Quebec.
