Curbside Recycling Ambassadors Program

Teens involved in the curbside recycling effort!

In May 2014, the Away-from-Home Recovery Program, the bacs+ group and the Regroupement des maisons de jeunes du Québec (RMJQ) established a historic partnership to launch the Curbside Recycling Ambassadors Program.

A financial assistance program to mobilize our youth

The Ambassadors program, funded with a $700,000 investment, supports projects that enhance curbside recycling and promote its social benefits via the mobilization of young people involved in the 187 youth centres throughout the province. The youth centres are invited to develop a project and apply for financial assistance of up to $4,000 for project implementation.

Projects to promote away-from-home materials recovery

The youth centres may choose from two types of projects according to the needs in their area:

  • Design and implement concrete actions to encourage people to consistently use recovery equipment already in place

  • Implement an initiative that encourages their municipality to install more equipment

Making Quebec’s public place materials recovery network the best and broadest in North America

In addition to making more recovery equipment available in municipal public places such as parks, along streets, in sports centres and libraries, this initiative will also improve the effectiveness, both in quantity and quality, of recyclable materials recovery throughout Quebec.
